What if we told you that using only coffee beans from southern Huila we could recreate a profile reminiscent of one of Central America’s most beloved and coveted coffee origins? Join us as we continue to embark on a journey for senses. Next stop: Guatemala.
Tres Vertientes is the second release in our newest series of concept coffees that will take your palate on a sensorial trip around the world, all while making you fall in love with the diversity and quality of Colombian coffees, here at home, no passport required.
Guatemalan coffees are known internationally for their inherent characteristics; produced in the fields, cultivated by hand and expressed beautifully later on in the cup. These coffees are usually grown at relatively high altitudes and tend to be quite dense when in beans form–qualities we can also find in certain Colombian coffees.
We worked with two allied producers from Acevedo, Huila who were ready and willing to face the challenge at hand: Orlando Babativa Ortiz and José Fabio León Ávila. Both grow their coffees at an altitude range of 1,286-1,600 m.a.s.l. and produce traditional varieties such as Colombia and Castillo.
With the release of Tres Vertientes we’d like to extend an invitation to Central America, a not-too-distant neighbor and peer, with flavor profiles similar to coffees grown in the Colombian southwest. This exceptional selection has notes of vanilla and orange peel.
Don’t miss out on the journey and stay tuned for our next destination!
