Description
Starting with this release, we’re replacing our signature tube with an entirely new box: one
that’s here to stay! The inner bag is now transparent, allowing you to see the coffee beans, while still featuring
the same one-way valve and resealable closure to preserve freshness.
We are pleased to bring back a favorite in our Nanoeditions series: an exceptional Gesha from San Agustín, Huila, grown
by Luis Alejandro Ortega at his farm, La Cabaña. There, around 2,000 Gesha trees thrive under the shade of citrus trees
and native forest, creating a diverse, stable microclimate that allows the cherries to develop slowly and evenly.
One of the characteristics that most distinguishes Luis Alejandro’s coffees is their exceptional bean density, consistently among the highest in the lots we export from Colombia. This trait is often associated with more complete bean development, allowing for a greater concentration of sugars and aromatic compounds that contribute depth and clarity in the cup. The result is a Gesha that preserves the variety’s signature delicacy while standing out for its remarkable character and complexity.
Also, this washed coffee underwent an 18-hour anaerobic fermentation followed by 15 days of drying in a parabolic dryer. The result is a refined and sophisticated cup with notes of acacia honey, yuzu, and white tea..
As always, during the purchasing process we followed the recommendations from A Sustainable Coffee Buyers Guide* to estimate the impact on the lives of the producer, their family, and the workers. In this case, the price per carga (125 kg) paid to the producer exceeded the Prosperous Price, which is designed to enable the producer and the workers to earn a living income, plus an additional 20% for personal savings. It also includes an extra 20% for reinvestment in the farm. While paying these prices does not guarantee that the producer will receive all the mentioned benefits, since it is based on regional averages, it does make it possible.
Enjoy a Gesha that celebrates the care invested in every stage of its production, the unique environment in which it is grown, and one of the finest expressions of Colombian coffee. An exceptional Nanoedition you don’t want to miss!
*The Guide is a tool that seeks to end the systematic impoverishment of smallholder farmers by providing buyers with region-specific data on production costs and the living costs of farming families. This allows buyers to make an informed decision about the price we pay for coffee, and whether it truly covers production costs and generates a profit that the producer can reinvest in the farm and his family. The aforementioned objective is determined by using the information provided in the latest version of the guide.
